Explore • Discover • Learn
Welcome to Old Folks Adventures
Adventure doesn’t retire. Neither did we.
We’re Michael and Cheryl — a retired couple who believe curiosity doesn’t fade with age. In fact, this season of life has given us the freedom to explore it more deeply.
Old Folks Adventures is built on three simple words:
Explore. Discover. Learn.
Every trip, every recipe, every project begins there.
Our Adventures
We love short trips, small towns, simple trails, and beautiful views. We document many of our travels on YouTube so you can experience the journey with us — the scenery, the laughter, and the real moments along the way.
But the story doesn’t stop with the video.
Here on our website, we share deeper insights, reflections, and historical information we uncover as we explore. Every place has a story. We enjoy learning it — and sharing it.
We don’t just pass through places.
We try to understand them.

Cheryl’s Kitchen
For Cheryl, cooking is another kind of exploration.
After years as a kitchen manager, she learned that recipes are guides — not rules. Many of the dishes she shares begin with something she has seen before, but rarely stay the same. She adjusts ingredients based on what we already have on hand — fresh eggs from the chickens, something from the garden, or simple substitutions instead of running to the store.
Over time, she has learned to trust her taste and her experience.
Her hope is to encourage others to do the same — to explore flavors, discover what works, and learn by trying. You don’t need every ingredient. You don’t need perfection. You just need the willingness to experiment.
Cooking, like traveling, is about confidence and curiosity.
Building • Creating • Learning
Michael’s love for building began long before internet tutorials existed. Learning meant asking questions, watching others, going to trade school, taking shop classes, and being willing to figure things out through trial and error.
He learned welding, explored basic blacksmithing, and developed woodworking skills over time — not because he had everything he needed, but because he was willing to learn.
Now, in retirement, that journey has come full circle. Using a bandsaw mill, he harvests trees from our own woods and turns them into lumber for projects — including the cabinets above our basement bar and kitchen.
From tree… to board… to finished piece.
He hopes others will see that you don’t need a massive shop or expensive tools to create something meaningful. You need curiosity. Patience. And the courage to try.

Our Philosophy
Whether we are traveling, cooking, or building, the lesson is the same:
-
Stay curious.
-
Use what you have.
-
Keep learning.
Exploring isn’t only about miles traveled.
Discovering isn’t only about new places.
Learning isn’t only for the young.
It’s a way of living.
We may move a little slower now —
but we see more, appreciate more, and understand more.
And we hope to inspire others — not just those in retirement, but younger generations too — to start their own adventures now.
Adventure has no age limit.
A Little Humor Along the Way
We also create and sell products featuring our brand and lighthearted sayings — reminders that growing older doesn’t mean growing serious all the time.
Because if you can laugh while you’re learning, the journey is even better.
Join the Journey
Whether you’re 25 or 75…

You belong here.
We’re still exploring.
Still discovering.
Still learning.
And we’re glad you’re with us.
