Instructions

  • Heat the oil in a deep skillet or Dutch oven
  • brown the beef on all sides and transfer to a plate and set aside
  • add the onions and cook until brown bout 6 minutes
  • add garlic and cook for another minute
  • add the red wine and bring to a boil then reduce heat to a simmer until it has evaporated by about half
  • add the seasonings and tomato paste
  • return the beef to the skillet
  • and pour in the beef broth
  • bring to boil and reduce heat to low and cover to simmer for about an hour or until the beef is tender
  • Transfer the goulash to a bowl to serve
