We love finding the old signs too. We are traveling The Old National Road (in IL) right now looking for old landmarks.
That road is on our list of things to do. I do not know what part of the road you are on in illinois but there is a big indian mount site just outside of Saint louis called CAHOKIA MOUNDS not far from highway 40. If you want to drop of some in illinois around Saint louis email us at oldfolksadventures @ gmail.com and I can give you a few more places that are not to far out of the way to visit.
