From Garden to Table
I made this homemade pasta sauce mostly from tomatoes I grew in my own garden. Using fresh, ripe tomatoes gives the sauce a rich, natural flavor that store-bought sauces just can’t match.
To get the thickness I like, I added some store-bought tomato paste. Next gardening season, I hope to experiment with making my own tomato paste and growing tomatoes that are perfect for sauce.
A Sauce You Can Customize
This sauce is incredibly versatile. I use it for all kinds of tomato-based recipes, from pasta dishes to chili. The best part? You can adjust the seasonings to your taste. I typically use Italian herbs and garlic, but you can leave them out or add other spices to make the sauce your own.
Recipes are guides — not rules — and this one is perfect for experimenting with flavors you love.
