Description

The Posey County War Memorial Coliseum is a Mount Vernon civic landmark built in the mid-1920s to honor local military veterans. Its history also connects to one of the region’s great natural disasters: during the devastating 1937 flood, the building served as an emergency shelter. Today, it remains a local government and community building, carrying forward both its memorial purpose and its place in Posey County’s public life.
