Café Arazu in Newburgh Indiana – A Relaxing Ohio River Dining Stop in Historic Downtown Newburgh
If you are visiting Newburgh or driving along the Ohio River Scenic Byway, finding a relaxing place to stop for lunch can make the trip even more memorable. During our visit to historic downtown Newburgh, we decided to eat at Café Arazu, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of the afternoon.
Located just steps from the Ohio River, Café Arazu combines a laid-back atmosphere with good food and one of the best dining locations in downtown Newburgh.
Location & Atmosphere
Café Arazu is located on West Jennings Street in the heart of historic downtown Newburgh. The restaurant is within walking distance of the riverfront shops, public parking areas, and scenic walking areas along the Ohio River.
Since the weather was nice during our visit, we chose to sit outside. The outdoor dining area gave us a relaxing place to slow down after walking around downtown Newburgh and exploring the historic river town. From the seating area, you can catch views toward the Ohio River while enjoying the atmosphere of the downtown district.
Because Jennings Street runs through the center of town, traffic noise can occasionally be heard during busy times of the day, but it still felt like a comfortable and enjoyable place to sit and take a break. Café Arazu also offers indoor seating along with a bar area for those wanting to escape the summer heat or colder weather.
What We Ordered
We stopped in during lunch hours and ordered from the lunch menu.
- Michael ordered the Arazu Grilled Chicken Sandwich
- Cheryl ordered the Arazu Shrimp appetizer since she was not very hungry at the time
Both meals were well prepared, flavorful, and filling for the price. The portions felt reasonable without being oversized, making it a good stop for travelers wanting a quality meal while exploring the area.
Our Experience
One of the things we noticed during our visit was how friendly and welcoming the atmosphere felt. The service was attentive without feeling rushed, and the restaurant itself was clean and well maintained.
This is not the type of place designed for a fast meal before getting back on the road. Instead, Café Arazu feels more like a place where you can slow down, relax, and enjoy the experience while taking in the character of historic downtown Newburgh.
That slower pace honestly matched the feel of the river town itself.
