Cooking Venison Like Beef

When I have venison in the freezer, I usually cook it just like I would beef. It’s a simple approach that works well and keeps things familiar in the kitchen.

For this Venison and Noodles recipe, I prepared the venison in a roasting pan, seasoned it the way I would a beef roast, and let it cook low and slow until tender.

Venison can sometimes be leaner than beef, so cooking it gently helps keep it flavorful and juicy.

Making the Gravy and Noodles

After the venison was finished cooking, I used the pan juices to make a rich, homemade gravy. I thickened the juices until they reached the consistency I wanted, then mixed everything together with egg noodles.

The result was a hearty, comforting meal that tasted just like a classic beef and noodles dish — but made with venison.

This is true comfort food, especially on a cool evening.

Crockpot or Stovetop Options

This recipe works beautifully on the stovetop, but I believe it would also make an excellent crockpot venison and noodles recipe.

Cooking it low and slow in a slow cooker would allow the venison to become even more tender while developing deep flavor in the gravy. I plan to test that method soon — but either way, this dish is simple and dependable.
